Denny Dias – Producer/Writer/Director

Denny Dias co-founded Drowning Drink with his brother in 2003 when making their first feature film – The Empty Room – with minimum budget and minimum crew.  Since then, Denny has continued to write, direct, produce and edit eleven diverse short films, while maturing a cutting-edge technique with his growing, unique team. During this time, Denny also acquired a B.A. in History and Philosophy, and certificates in Film Studies and Entertainment Administration.  Find Denny in a cave under a sunny mountainside, staring at a blank piece of paper.

Drink of choice: Whisky-Water

Nelson Dias – Producer

Nelson co-founded Drowning Drink Productions in 2003 when he and his brother independently wrote, directed, edited, and produced the feature length film The Empty Room.  Other productions soon followed, and Drowning Drink Productions have been producing various genres of films ever since. Nelson has a B.A. In History and Philosophy and considers himself a serious fan and student of filmmaking.  If you can’t find Nelson, he’s probably at a punk rock concert going for it!

Drink of choice: Whisky or Vodka

Cole Waters - Producer

Before working in the film industry, Cole spent most of his time doing Marketing for the Vancouver Aquarium and traveling.  After deciding to go a new direction, he graduated from the UBC Entertainment Business program and is now applying himself to the independent film world.  If you can't find him, check the surf spots of Tofino.

Drink of choice: Corona/Guinness

Amy Zimmerman – Director of Development

A Nova Scotia native, Amy’s love for film began in the acting world, where her sights took her to Vancouver.  Amy graduated with a B.A. in film from UBC, which then led her to study acting in Los Angeles.  After acting and producing small independent features with Squallay Productions based in Hollywood, California, Amy returned back to Vancouver to complete the Entertainment Administration certificate at UBC.  After assisting in creative development with Omni Films in Vancouver, Amy is now the newest member of the Drowning Drink team.  If Amy’s missing, check the hipster bars in Hollywood.

Richard Batista – Post Production Supervisor
 
A longtime admirer of films, Richard began his involvement in the film industry on Drowning Drink Productions first feature length project, The Empty Room, and has worked on many Drowning Drink Productions projects since then.  With a B.A. in History from SFU, Richard’s also a jack-of-all-trades.  His credits include cinematography, writing, and both sound and film editing.  If you can’t find Richard, he’s probably at a guitar shop checking out new gear.

Drink of choice: Rum & Coke

Tara Armstrong - Production Manager

Always craving to work in the film industry, Tara recently teamed up with Drowning Drink to help produce a short film for the 2009 Vancouver 24 Hour Film Race.  Besides her relentless ambition, Tara holds diplomas in film studies from Vancouver Film School and Langara College, and is also a graduate of the UBC Entertainment Administration program.  In addition to producing, Tara enjoys writing and is currently working on her first screenplay.  If you can’t find Tara, she probably doesn’t want to be found.

Drink of choice: Coffee & Cream
